Music at Woosehill

TO ALL MUSICIANS OUT THERE (AND ANYONE WHO KNOWS A MUSICIAN)

As everyone will appreciate, we have had a rich history of music and musicians over the past thirty years and more, but for various reasons we now find ourselves in a position where we are having to increasingly rely on recorded music for much of the time. We are hugely grateful for the services of Becca Lamey, and Naomi, once a month and for those of Chris Merchant (and Tom Williams) from St Paul’s, but it would be
really great if we could fill in some of the gaps. So, if you are a musician or a group of musicians and feel able to accompany the singing in Church on a Sunday or, indeed, if you know somebody who could, then why not get in touch. We do have a keyboard which I am reliably informed is extremely good or,
perhaps, you play another instrument. Whatever your choice of instrument your commitment as to how often you play will be entirely up to you. Why not speak to one of the stewards. John Hoskins.

Farewell Mike

Our director of music Mike Cole was presented with gifts from the church at our Harvest Festival as he left us after 25 years of faithful service. Mike has been an inspired leader of our music group and contributed in many ways to the musical life of Woosehill Church.

Music is an important part of the worship at Woosehill and we enjoy a mix of traditional hymns and modern worship songs. The pandemic has had an impact on what we are able to do and over recent months, while we have been unable to sing, we have used two singers, backed either by live musicians or recorded music to lead this aspect of our worship. This has allowed the best musical experience that was possible under the circumstances to be shared with those in church and the Livestream audience at home. Arising out of the worship consultation group, discussions are being held to identify how we can further enrich the musical contribution to worship.
