At 10:00am on the second and fourth Sundays of the month, we have our main Communion services. Our communion services are all ecumenical, (not specifically of one denomination) however they are led either by a priest from the Church of England or by an ordained minister from the Methodist Church. Currently the second Sunday is our Methodist Communion service, and the fourth Sunday is our Anglican Communion service.
We believe that everyone who is baptised, whatever your denomination, should be able to receive communion in both kinds (that is, both the bread and the wine) at Holy Communion. In practice, this means that both the Anglican and Methodist ministers will consecrate both normal and gluten-free wafers, and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic wine. You may receive the wine either by the shared cup (which is alcoholic) or in an individual glass. Jesus told us all to remember him every time we eat this bread and drink this cup, and this is reflected in our services.
Gathering around the Lord’s Table, we share in bread and wine – just as Jesus did with his friends on the night before he died. In sharing this meal, we believe we come closer not only to God, but to one another.
