Wool With A Mission
The epidemic of loneliness we’re seeing today, highlights just how much community matters! And it’s not just the elderly. Fifty years ago there would have been lots of young mums and their children living in close-knit communities. These days, young mums at home can feel isolated when neighbours are at work all day. So the government is encouraging local organisations, charities and churches to address the problem of loneliness in their areas and to work together to build community.
A growing interest
Recently there has been a growing interest in knitting and crochet by younger women, who are using the internet to learn. These skills used to be at the very heart of traditional communities. Could they be used again as one ‘tool’ to help create community?
So Wool With A Mission has been set up on Woosehill to bring together people who would like to learn these skills – and people who are accomplished at them. That’s our mission!
Share skills
A knit and natter group, we want to inspire and encourage each other in a friendly environment. We can share ideas and patterns – and simply enjoy being with others who love to knit and crochet.
People can bring their own knitting/crochet and anyone who wants to know how to knit or crochet can learn from others in the group who will be delighted to share their skills. It would be great to build a crafting community here on Woosehill (but you don’t have to live on Woosehill to be part of our group).
If you know anyone you think might enjoy our group, please share this information. You can download and print out this leaflet:-
